James Attlee is the author of Guernica: Painting the End of the World; Station to Station, shortlisted for the Stanford Dolman Travel Book of the Year 2017; Nocturne: A Journey in Search of Moonlight; and Isolarion: A Different Oxford Journey among other titles. His digital fiction The Cartographer’s Confession won the New Media Writing Prize in 2018. He has written articles and reviews for publications including The Independent, Frieze, Tate Etc, Review 31, The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, Artists & Illustrators and others. Alongside his writing career James has worked in publishing, mostly in the field of the visual arts, including for a decade at Tate Publishing in London; as editor at large for the University of Chicago Press in the UK; and as a freelance editor and consultant both in Britain and overseas.
