Tickets on sale for dinners

01/01/2014

Tickets have gone on sale for a series of prestigious dinners overseen by major chefs and food writers where guests can join some of the major authors and speakers at this year’s festival.

The key closing dinner will be overseen by chefs, restaurant owners and cookery writers Katie and Giancarlo Caldesi, pictured. They will prepare a three-course meal for the festival’s closing dinner based on recipes in their most recent book, Venice:  Recipes Lost and Found.

The welcome dinner on Tuesday, November 11, will be a perfect opportunity to mix with some of the recently arrived authors. Ross King, Melanie King, William Chislett, Patti Boulaye, Joanne Harris, Nick Rankin, Maggie Gee, Prajwal Parajuly, and Lord Carey are all expected that evening.

Gibraltar’s own Nhean Haynes de Domecq overseas the menu for the opening dinner on Thursday, November 13, which will be based on recipes from her book Rock Cakes and Other Delights.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, food historian Anne Menzies overseas a menu based on Sir Winston Churchill’s favourite dishes at a festival dinner at The Convent. This year is the 50th anniversary of the death of Sir Winston.

Tickets have sold out for a lunch prepared by Indian food writer and actress Madhur Jaffrey, but tickets remain for lunch with Claudia Roden on Saturday, November 15. Roden is preparing a menu based on recipes from her many successful cookery books.
