Bart van Es will be in conversation with Suzi Feay about his Costa Book of the Year winning biography, The Cut Out Girl, which traces the life of a Jewish Girl who lived in hiding with his family in the Netherlands during World War II. Bart’s book was described by the Costa judges as their unanimous choice and as ‘the hidden gem of the year.’
The Times called the book ‘superb’ and The Evening Standard described it as ‘astonishing . . . a masterpiece of history and memoir, concluding on a note of reconciliation, hope and great love.’ The Cut Out Girl also won the Slightly Foxed Best First Biography Prize.
