Images of Celtic Internationalism: A view of Scottish Art

Professor Murdo Macdonald

Oct

12:00pm 1h
John Mackintosh Hall

Professo Murdo MacDonald will revisit and expand a talk he delivered at the British Museum earlier this year as part of the exhibition, Celts: Art and Identity.

A fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Professor Macdonald will explore the wider international dimensions of the Scottish art and literature of the Celtic revival, in terms of European links and with respect to cultural revival in India and Japan.

His talk is illustrated with the works of Scottish artists and other key European painters such as JMW Turner and JAD Ingres.

His talk will encompass the mid-18thcentury to the present.
