Jess Phillips talks to Nick Higham?
Everything you Really need to Know about Politics: My Life as an MP Labour MP and shadow minister Jess Phillips takes a funny yet frank look at the world of politics and makes a case for why we all need to be part of it more than ever before.
Phillips explains what it means to be an MP, from the deadly serious to the downright funny, from agonising over decisions on foreign airstrikes and sitting in on history-making moments at the UN, to making headlines about orgasms and eating McCain’s potato smiles at a black-tie banquet in China. She goes into all aspects of an MP’s life and shows what’s really going on in British politics.
Phillips has been MP for Birmingham Yardley since 2015 and is shadow minister for domestic violence and safeguarding. She worked with victims of domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking before becoming an MP.
Phillips talks to Nick Higham, who was the BBC’s first ever media correspondent and is a former presenter of Meet the Author on the BBC news channel.
